Presentation

Assisi is a city of many faces: it is an important religious centre, home town of Francis and Clare but it is also a centre rich in art and culture.

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Subasio, Assisi dominates the Umbrian Valley with its imposing Rocca Maggiore; walking along the narrow alleys of the medieval town, it is possible to admire important monuments. In addition to the two world-famous basilicas, the city boasts a large collection of arts from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and preserves remains from the Roman era: the

Forum, the Domus del Lararium and the so-called Domus di Properzio.

The museums of Assisi welcome schools of all levels, ready to discover these significant places, with several educational proposals.

The domus del Lararium is a Roman house dating back to the end of the Republican age and the early Imperial age; while the so-called House of Propertius is a more complex structure that lies beneath the church of Santa Maria Maggiore.
